This models replicates a 2006 delivery to HFD. Between '06 and '07, HFD took delivery of several of the 1500/750 pumpers.
First off, TWH has replicated the raised roof version of the second-generation Quantum just as beautifully and accurately as they did the flat-roofed variant. Fit and finish is flawless. Striping, numbering and lettering tampos are crisp, clear and legible regardless of size.
The model features the same functions as the rest of the Quantum lineup including tilting cab, working TAK-4 suspension, steerable front wheels and functioning ladder rack with multi-section extending roof ladder.
The model also sports s beautifully detailed engine compartment and chassis with all hoses, cables and wiring you'd see on the real steel.
The cab boasts an accurate representation of a Whelen LED lightbar, A/C condensor 2-way radio antenna, flush-mounted secondary warning lights, scene lighting and "go light" (for triggering traffic signals). All "slam locks" on the cab doors are seperate real plated metal parts and not painted-on details. The cab interior displays seats with the PIERCE emblem and cloth seat belts, detailed dashboard and engine "doghouse" control panels.
The pump panel is intricately detailed with gauges, pump status lights, levers, etc. There is a nicely replicated hose load in the open hosebed, excellent hose reel, covered crosslays and deluge gun. The roll-up compartment doors are finely scribed and very realistic in appearance. The diamondplate on the front bumper and pumper body is sharp and in scale. The front bumper is complete with recessed siren speaker and air horns, soft-sleeve suction intake and tow hooks.
Etched metal parts include engine air intake, steps and vents on the pumphouse generator compartment. Light lenses are either clear or tinted plastic. The polished Alcoa rims are finely detailed with hub and lug nut detail and the cooling holes are drilled through the wheel and not just stamped into it. Rubber mud flaps with PIERCE logos are mounted on all four wheel wells.
Simply put, TWH's fire apparatus models are the epitome of quality, detail and appearance.
