LIEBHERR LTM 1070-4.1 MOBILE CRANE

by: Steven Downes

The model is an update to the previously released LTM1060-2 and shares the same castings with the exception of the boom and rear counterweight.

The four axles feature working steering allowing tight radius turning and crab steer modes with detailed rubber tyres with an authentic tread pattern. The four outriggers are made of plastic and slide out easily with screw adjustable pads which can be lowered to raise the wheels off the ground.

The main boom has an additional telescoping section than the LTM1060-2 and the rear counterweight is a little larger, featuring plastic screw fittings which allow the separate counterweight to be fastened to the rear frame. The crane cab has a replicated interior with the ability to tilt by about 25 degrees. The front cab has small holes drilled into the door frames for the addition of the plastic mirrors which push into the holes. This is another nice addition on the model which adds to the realism.

The model also comes with boom mounted, two section lattice jib which fastens to the side of the boom by using the two plastic brackets that fit to the cast lugs on the boom side which help to keep the jib firmly in place. two metal pins are provided to connect the jib to the boom head. This is a very welcomed update of a great original.

Hi guys. Britt from diecastmodels.co. Today we have the Liebherr LTM 1070-4.1 Mobile Crane made by Conrad in 1:50 scale. Let's take a look.

This model features rolling rubber wheels that sit on detailed resin hubs. The resin hubs are great, and they match the paint very well. There are four axles, and all of the axles are tandemly steered, so the back two and the front two are steered together. On the model itself, there are four outriggers that can be extended out. Two on each side. There's also a spot for the hook block to be hooked to in transport mode. Take the jib off, and you can see that the boom raises up. It's also a six-section boom that telescopes out and adds a bunch of height to the model. Holy ****.

There is locking mechanisms on the underside of the boom, so you're going to want to be mindful of that. Inside of the driver's cab, there's the driver's seat and passenger seat, along with a dashboard and a steering wheel. Directly behind the operator's cab is a replicated exhaust along with engine compartments. There's also textured walkway surfaces, to walk on when you're on your way to the operator's cab. The crane operator's cab tilts up and on the inside are the seat and controls. On top of the operator's cab, there's a window so you can look up and see what you're working on that way.

There's also accurately gauged grab rails and hand rails around the entire model. On the back of the model, there are four wheel chocks along with a spare tire and counterweights. The rear counterweights feature the Liebherr name, and there's one working winding drum that operates the load block. The crane body rotates 360 degrees. There are four access ladders, two on each side of the model that lead up to the top so you can access your operator's cab. There's one working hydraulic cylinder which lifts the boom. The hydraulic cylinder jacket is made up of a hard yellow resin, while the cylinder ram is made up of metal.

Once again, this is the Liebherr LTM 1070-4.1 Mobile Crane made by Conrad in 1:50 scale. You can get yours today at www.diecastmodels.co. Thanks for tuning in; you'll see me next time.
