Freightliner with East Flatbed Trailer

by: Steven Downes

Presented here is the Freightliner Century tractor with East flatbed trailer in 1:50th scale. The East flat bed trailer features working suspension complete with air and electrical lines, rear opening storage compartments and white rubber mud guards with authentic East markings.

The rear of the tractor has a working fifth wheel coupling with sprung loaded release lever. The fifth wheel can be adjusted depending on the trailer being connected and the air and electrical service lines are present which fit into the holes on the trailer.

The dual exhaust stacks are fitted behind the cab with flexible rubber side panels and grab rails added. The rear mounted rack with various chains, tie down hooks and storage compartments is clearly visible behind the cab and is not fitted to all of the Freightliner models.

The opening engine compartment reveals a fully detailed engine bay with engine block, radiator with cooling fan and all the other associated components. The front wheels have an authentic Michelin tread pattern with working steering and the cab doors can be opened to reveal the internal cab detail and simulated wooded dashboard complete with reproduced guages and dials.

The sleeper cab features a removeable roof section which reveals the internal sleeping compartment including lower bed complete with quilt and pillow, upper fold up bed and simulated carpet texture on the floor. On this model, the roof section has a clear glazed window and the sleeper compartment has clear windows on both sides which are not fitted to the Schneider versions of the tractor.

The driver and passenger seats are sprung loaded and can be moved forward, just like on the real truck while side mounted mirrors are provided in the box which need fixing to the model The East trailer has a distinctive bow to the bed which simulated the pre stressed state of the trailer when not under load. The model is supplied with a host of fixing components including metal chains in various lengths, rubber and fabric straps in various lengths and metal clips which locate into the sides of the trailer bed.

Red Freightliner Century Class

Posted by patrick on 12/2/2012
The frieghtliner century class truck made by Sword is Highly detailed all around. Air hoses, spring seats and suspension on the trailor all work great. The trailer is nice and has oening toolboxes and screw down outriggers. The century class also comes with a pack of straps and chains too. it is worth the money and is one of the best truck models out there.

Now I have to buy a load for the trailer. The straps, winches and chains are the best I've ever seen. The entire truck is the best I've ever seen.
